The Electric Car Discount Policy
Introduced by the Federal Government, the Electric Car Discount Policy has made eligible electric vehicles (EVs)^ more affordable when purchased through a novated lease.
Eligible BYD electric vehicles (EVs)^ qualify for the Electric Car Discount. They are now exempt from Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) – which could save you thousands.

* The offer set out in this campaign is provided by BYD Australia Pty Ltd ABN 82 166 009 687 (BYD Automotive). The fulfilment of all conditions of this offer will be directly between BYD Automotive and the customer. SmartTM accepts no liability for any dispute between the customer and BYD Automotive in relation to their participation in this offer. This offer is available exclusively to retail customers who order a new in-stock eligible BYD vehicle (SEALION 5, SEALION 6, SEALION 8, SEALION 7 (premium) or SHARK 6 (Dynamic Cab Chassis & Premium only)) (Eligible Vehicle). Eligible customers will receive a $2,500 cashback (Rebate) on an Eligible Vehicle when ordered between 1 July 2026 and 31 July 2026 and delivered by 30 August 2026. Customers who order a new in-stock BYD ATTO 3 during the same campaign period will instead receive a $2,000 cashback (Rebate), subject to the same order and delivery dates outlined above. This offer excludes: Fleet customers, government, rental purchases, demonstrator vehicles, any transactions involving additional promotional offers or discounts. Eligibility for this offer is not guaranteed until a vehicle has been allocated by BYD Automotive against your order. Vehicle allocation is subject to availability. If you have ordered your vehicle directly through BYD Automotive, a BYD Automotive Product Specialist will contact you to confirm your allocation and eligibility. If you have ordered your vehicle through SmartTM, we will contact you to confirm such allocation and eligibility. The Rebate will be processed as an Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) to the Eligible customer’s designated bank account. The Rebate will be issued 30 days after the completion of an official Cashback Application Form, which will be emailed to customers by BYD within 7 days of vehicle delivery. Customers must complete the official Cashback Application Form no later than 30 September 2026. If the Cashback Application Form is not submitted by this time, the customer will not be eligible for the Cashback.
